Mothers Day

For your unconditional love, never-ending patience, and an unlimited supply of kindness and understanding, I will be forever grateful. Thank you for making me feel like the luckiest child in the world. My home is wherever you are, Mum. I love you always. If I had to live my life all over again, I would still want you to be my mother.

Mothers Day craft ideas

1. FLOWERS HANDPRINT

From funhandprintartblog.com

Mums and grandmas will love receiving and displaying this precious flowers inspired handprint artwork in their homes. Children can add their own handprint flowers using acrylic paint to the brown cardstock or construction paper pot.

Top it off with a printed sentiment: “I’ve made some May flowers with my fingers and my thumb, so you’ll have these memories for all the years to come.”

TOTAL TIME:

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE COOKIES

3 c. all-purpose flour, plus more for surface

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. kosher salt

1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened

1 c. granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1 tbsp. milk

FOR THE BUTTERCREAM

1 225g block cream cheese, softened

1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, softened

4 c. powdered sugar

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1/4 tsp. kosher salt

Pink and red food colouring

Sprinkles

DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another large bowl using a hand mixer, beat butter and sugar until fluffy and pale in color. Add egg, milk, and vanilla and beat until combined, then add flour mixture gradually until totally combined.

Shape into a disk and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate 1 hour.

When ready to roll, preheat oven to 180’ and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out dough until 1/8” thick. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies and transfer to prepared baking sheets.

Bake until edges are lightly golden, 8 to 10 minutes.

Make frosting: In a large bow using a hand mixer, beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt and beat until combined.

Divide frosting into 3 bowls. Add pink food colouring to one bowl and red food colouring to another. Stir each bowl and add more food colouring until desired colour is reached. Frost cookies using an offset spatula with each colour of frosting, then top with sprinkles.
